Participants will initially choose which category they will race - you can move up but only until the halfway point in the season, after that you must remain in the category you are in. Points collected before moving up will be adjusted acordingly. The race organizer can change your category based on your performance. Example: If you are racing in Novice and your times are comparable to the Sport category you will be moved up. The race organizer also has the right to group smaller categories together.Sandbagging WILL NOT BE ALLOWED! (Sandbagging is when a much faster rider races in a lower category so he/she can win that category easily) If you are sandbagging you will lose all points and will be moved up into a higher category based on your lap times.
Registration
Registration should occure 30 to 45 minutes before a race starts leaving you enough time to pre-ride the course. All participants must sign in before every race.
Equipment
Any mountain bike can be used for racing as long as it is in sound mechanical condition - working brakes and shifting gears being most important. Cyclocross bikes and single speed bikes can also be used. If a bicycle is found to be unsafe or dangerous by the race organizer that rider will be disqualified from that race. Repairs can be made during a race but the remainder of laps must continue from the spot where the break down occured - or you can also start your lap over from the start-finish line.
A rider may aquire outside help to repair your bike.
All riders must wear an approved helmet and covered shoes - no sandals. Mp3 players are not recommended but if you do wear them please make sure all wires are properly tucked in and that you keep the volume down so that you can hear others behind you.
Series Points Structure
The top ten finishers in all categories will earn points. First place will receive 10 points, second 9, third 8, fourth 7, fifth 6, sixth 5, seventh 4, eigth 3, ninth 2 and tenth 1. The top finisher in each category - The person who finishes with the most points at the end of the season will receive our giveaway. ONCE AGAIN - SANDBAGGING IS NOT ALLOWED AND WILL BE MONITERED CLOSELY!!!
At series end the worst 2 times will be deleated from each rider.
Course Rules & Courtesy
Each race will have a mass start but we will start the faster categories first and each category afterwards will start 15 seconds later. Although we have course marshals and warning signs around the course you must still be cautious around the whole course. Remember this is a public park so there will be people walking, jogging and riding during our race. The course will be well marked and easy to follow. Slower riders should yield to faster ones from other categories - if you are passing you should do so with ample warning to the slower rider. Please use the customary "passing on the left" or "Passing on the right" call out before you pass. Please also be very courtious to walkers and runners.
Number Plates
The number plates this year will be further brokern down in colour categories so that you can better see who it is you are racing against. Each registered participant will receive one plate - there will be a $5 fee if you lose that plate. Single race participants must turn in thier plate after the race. Please do not deface or cut the number plates.
